Confidentiality on the Helpline Phone
The Helpline is committed to creating a private space where people can openly discuss their concerns. We realize that confidentiality and anonymity are critical to creating this space. We maintain your confidentiality as long as you keep your anonymity. To maintain privacy, anyone calling the Helpline should refrain from disclosing identifying information, such as last names, addresses, phone numbers, and employers of anyone directly involved in an abusive situation. The Helpline does not need any of these details to provide guidance and resources.
Helpline calls are not recorded. No caller ID is used or seen by Helpline staff or by Behavioral Health Network. Crocker Communications which provides the phone service for the Helpline keeps a record of phone numbers but does not share these numbers with 10 to 10 Helpline staff or Behavioral Health Network. Crocker Communications does not record calls.
If a caller provides identifying information specific to abusive and criminal behavior, we may be required by law to report it. In these cases, in addition to identifying information you have provided, IP addresses may be shared upon request with the proper authorities. In a criminal case, Crocker Communications might also be required to provide a phone number with a time stamp, although no calls are recorded so the content of a call cannot be provided.
The Helpline Email:
The Helpline currently uses Gmail. When someone emails the Helpline they receive this automatic reply: Thank you for contacting the 10 to 10 Helpline! We will get back to you as soon as possible. We make every effort to keep email confidential and do not collect email addresses or use them in any way unless you ask us to. We also routinely delete emails from our account to protect privacy. Please be aware, however, that emails can be traced. If you want to avoid this possibility, we encourage you to call the Helpline between 10am and 10pm at 877-898-3411.
We are currently in the process of investigating emails that may provide more privacy and safety than Gmail.
